Biography
Eric M. Thorn is managing the Firm’s Tampa Office. He practices in the areas of: business and commercial litigation, construction litigation, employment law, product liability, premises liability, transportation law, long-term care litigation, professional malpractice, personal injury and wrongful death.
In his business and commercial practice, Eric has litigated a variety of matters including corporate and shareholder liability, professional malpractice, complex commercial litigation, construction defect and warranty claims, insurance coverage, premises liability, transportation law and trademark infringement. Mr. Thorn’s product liability experience has included representation of both manufacturers and distributors of automobiles, forklifts, industrial equipment, conveyors and paint. In providing legal services to business clients, Eric has defended Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) claims and lawsuits alleging violations of the: Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Florida Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Employee Retirement Income Security Act, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. Eric has also represented hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, home healthcare agencies and physicians in actions involving medical malpractice, personal injury and wrongful death.
Mr. Thorn obtained his B.A. degree from Vassar College and later received a Master’s Degree from the University of Florida where he specialized in Muscle Physiology and Biochemistry. Eric received his J.D. degree from Stetson University, College of Law. Prior to joining the law firm of St. Denis & Davey, P.A., Mr. Thorn was a Partner with a regional defense litigation firm. Mr. Thorn is admitted to practice in all Florida State Courts; the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida.
